Editing:

What we did and team performance:

On Thursday the 27/03/2014 Thomas Stowell and myself starting editing the filmed clips. Connor and Viknesh did not help in this task even after they knew and saw us working on it.

On Thursday we worked on getting all the clips into one Rough edit so that this next week we can edit it. The rough edit is composed of all the clips that we will use in chronological order however there are no transitions, titles and sounds included. The reason to why we made a rough clip first was to see if we needed any additional filming prior to our final edit. After putting this clip together however we found that no more was needed and that it was good for editing the next week. However if we do have the time , we shall include some more scenes to make the movie more fluid. We also found we could include some more scene to make Dom walk from one scene to the next in the same direction.

At first we watched each of the clips to determine which ones we will use and deleted the clips that we wouldn't use. Reason behind this was to make each scene easier to edit since we would know what clips to use.

After this we cut each of the clips to the smallest length that we could whilst still maintaining what we wanted to display. We wanted a rough average length of each clip to be of around 5 seconds, However for the first scene of Dom waking and talking on phone we used one continuous clip since he was the only character involved. We edited all the clips in the chronological order that they will put together in. Once all the clips were cut and placed onto our movie timeline and played the movie.
From having done this we established what else we could cut since the movies time was a little too long.  We cut any parts that we could whilst also maintaining the fluidity of the movie.

In this Film editing session I also was in charge of listening to the audio of the clips and the film as a whole together to see if  it worked well and made sense together. I also gathered any sound and music files that we would use in next weeks editing session and sent them to Tom.

The main purpose of this session was to establish what further clips we may need, if the sound quality was good enough and to set a template for our next weeks film editing for the final cut.

Here is our rough cut from Thursdays lesson:
