Script :
I have been working on the script handed to me by Tom and have been working on modifying it and adding the moods and sound effects for each scene. I will continue to do so as we develop with our film however I have sent back a copy of the modified work to him. I referenced past research such as the scripts I used for the competition I had entered to understand what things I could include to improve the script, and this is where I got the idea of the moods from. By including these not only does it give our actors a queue to how to act for each scene but it makes the filming more appealing and understandable to the viewers.I also included a few new scenes to our film. Such as Dom finding out about the drug dealer from a headline, a possible idea of ending the film with a twist such as Dom having been overdosed on drugs the whole time with which we could convert it into a commercial for to stop taking drugs. It will have a shock factor to it since it is a sudden change in the movie.
One last feature I worked on in this script was the Sound effects. I will be adding certain sound effects in the editing process since my editing job is mainly focused on fine tuning our clip.
Furthermore background music will be included to specific "sad" moments of our film so when the music starts we know its a sad scene. It shows the downwards spiral of Dom's life.
This Script work had helped us set a plot to our film so that over the next weeks we can quickly and effectively establish many shots and clips for our editing process. We will need around 4 actors however 3 for the minimum since there are 3 main characters. Dom, Dealer and the police.
I've sent the script back to tom, and we will further analyse the rest of it in the future days. The rest of the group should also see it and hopefully contribute however they did not do so with the treatment so at the moment Tom and Myself , we are getting necessary components for the filming process to work completed.
Group filming on Monday:
On Monday Tom had acquired the Filming equipment by booking the day before.
Unfortunately , since I live off campus and having only been told the night before I could not make it that Monday. However he explained to me what happened, and we have both gone over the work clips that have been acquired. Connor and viknesh did turn up for this yet however Tom claims they were 1 hour late.
The footage acquired was of the locations which we will be using in our film. This includes all additional areas that we may use. There were no actors or acting involved in this filming session.
Tom and I went over these clips and have concluded that they wont necessarily be used a lot or at all in our film , however could be used to set the scene or mood of our story.
Having observed these films, we have acquired a better understanding of which angles we can use to film each scene in the specified locations. I also monitored sound of each clip that had been taken and found that there was too much background noises the sound equipment needed calibration, as well as the fact that Connor and Viknesh were talking on almost each scene thus the audio would need changing if we do use these. I would included some bird chirping noises or the background soundtrack if this is the case.
Tom and I have agreed to use these next weeks, mainly this upcoming week on filming so that we can spend the next week on editing, we haven't had contact with the rest of the group yet since they did not turn up for the film class on Tuesday but we will do our best on informing them.
